Remoteless for Android 2.0.0
Her I will blog about Remoteless for Android 2.0.0! I will post issues, designs, screens, updates etc.Update 2: 2. may 2013
Update 5: 7. june 2013
Libspotify premium integration is starting to look good! Still a lot to do, but we are getting there. Coding in C over JNI with libspotify is a pretty frustrating thing
Stay tuned for more updates!
No more free playlists?
A change in the Spotify desktop clients (mac/windows) breaks our current playlist system for Spotify free users. The playlists are still there but will never update again. The change is probably done for a really good reason by Spotify, but we can no longer access the data, and we don’t know if we ever will be able to do so again.
We are really sorry for this, and we hope that Spotify will bring back something we can user for the free users. For users logged into the app with a premium account, playlists works as before!
Refunds:
If you want a refund after this downgrade, please ask apple or google. They have your banking information, and will be able to refund your purchase. Our suggestion is to get a Spotify Premium account to support the artists, and Remoteless still have a ton of features, so its still useful for free users with searching / browsing / controlling etc.

Windows:
http://helpers.remoteless.no/RemotelessHelperInstaller_2_1_1.exe
Whats new?
- fixed issue with starting artists / albums in windows

- fixes threading in mac & windows, so that for example loading playlists does not block status updates
Please tell us if it works / works better!
Airfoil!
Remoteless is finally getting Airfoil integration both for windows and mac. Airfoil is already fully working in our development versions, and we hope to get it released in not to long.
Just wanted you guys to know
Update 21.3.2012:
Just had to upload this image…
Running airfoil on iPad, iMac and MacBookPro from Remoteless. Suddenly I could mix the sharp high frequencies from my iPad with my bassy iMac sound. Then with a tiny drop of MacBook Pro, the sound was complete
No kidding, using Airfoil as a bass/treble controller gave me a much better sound then just from my iMac! (My JBLs are still better, so I think I stick to those)
Finally some simple Queue and Radio functionality!
After digging deep into the core of the software service called Spotify, I have finally figured out how to add a couple of missing features (WILL BE ADDED IN REMOTELESS FOR SPOTIFY 2.0.4):
#1: ADD TO QUEUE
This feature have been missing for a long long time! You cant view the queue, but you can add songs / albums / playlists to the queue. Pretty cool.
#2: START RADIO STATION
You can soon start a radio station from any track, album, artist or playlist! Yeah!
Trust me I had to dig deep to figure out how this is done, but now that we have figured it out, it will be out in the NEXT VERSION OF REMOTELESS!
Just needed yo let you all know; The waiting is over!

Mac helper 2.0.4 beta 1
Hi!
We are constantly trying to improve the helper until we reach a stability level we are happy with!
Today we release a new mac 2.0.4 beta1. This helper have a new bug tracking systems that will make it much simpler for us to identify issues. From now on, all new releases will be done as betas first, so stay tuned on this blog to find updates if you have issues.
Usage:
Just download and install the new helper. If it crashes or hangs, just restart it and it will update a small anonymous footprint of what happened to our server. This way we will get a really really detailed idea of every crash / freeze.

Future plan:
Just to let you guys know what we have in the pipeline:
Bonjour! The great connectivity library from apple which will make it much much simpler to detect a connection between the helper and the app.
Remoteless for Netflix! …is in the making, but it will take some time to get it done!
Poll: Remoteless for [YOU DECIDE]
Remoteless 2.0 is a platform making it possible to make more remotes for other services. We currently have a list of services we would like to develop a remote for, but we want to hear what you have to say! So please vote in our poll, and please leave a comment about anything that would be mega awesome!
To clarify, this is not a feature for Remoteless for Spotify, but a completely new app! We are going to create an app series!
*in browser means that the Remoteless Helper will pop up a webbrowser window for the service to run on the computer. This is required to give us the access and control that is needed for a great remote. An alternative is to write a plugin for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera etc… , but that will probably be much less stable.
Thanks for your feedback, and please suggest more options!
Update 1:
Seems like Netflix is in the lead, with Youtube in second place. Both will happen! Next is a lot of requests for Airfoil on Windows. I have talked to the Airfoil guys, and I know mac is possible, but will look into windows stuff. Ideally all apps would have a “Systems”-tab for keyboard, mouse, applications, system sound etc…, and an “Airfoil”-tab for airfoil. Maybe we add that, but the options in the list are all possible! Btw, we discovered that Rdio already have a remote feature built into all their apps, so there will probably be no Remoteless for Rdio.
Update 2: 10. January 2013
We are still working hard on stabilizing and fixing every issue in Remoteless for Spotify. However, on the R&D side, Remoteless for Netflix is starting to work really nice. Most basic remote functionality is actually in place. We still need to build the app, do the graphics and create a browser, but the “remote control”-part is already running nicely
App and graphics will reuse heavily from Remoteless for Spotify, so finishing the app will not take that long when all functionality is in place! Thanks for the voting!
